Mirziyoyev outlines Uzbekistan's goals during Non-Aligned Movement chairmanship

Uzbekistan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement for the first time in 2027–2029 and plans to use its chairmanship to improve the organization's effectiveness, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, according to Report.

"In 2027–2029, we will chair the Non-Aligned Movement for the first time. We will actively promote initiatives aimed at increasing the effectiveness of this global organization, which brings together more than 120 countries worldwide," he said.

According to Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan's GDP will reach $300 billion by 2030 if high economic growth rates are maintained. He identified the creation of high-paying jobs as a priority, with their number expected to reach 2 million.

"Another priority will be the development of startups, venture capital and artificial intelligence to fully realize the potential of our young people," Mirziyoyev said.

According to the Uzbek leader, these measures will help increase GDP per capita to more than $10,000 over the next 10 years.
