Jasurbek Choriyev: TRACECA proposes optimizing border procedures through new digital center

TRACECA has proposed the establishment of a Center for Digital Transformation and Integration into International Transport Corridors, TRACECA Secretary General Jasurbek Choriyev said at the Tashkent Investment Forum.

Report quotes him as saying the initiative envisions the creation of a specialized center focused on optimizing border procedures.

According to Choriyev, the project includes the establishment of an "optimization laboratory" aimed at reducing procedures at border crossing points, as well as the introduction of artificial intelligence-based risk management systems to speed up cargo clearance while maintaining security standards.

"Particular attention is being paid to the harmonization of practices. We propose developing unified tariff approaches and simplifying trade procedures. Plans also include harmonizing international data-exchange standards based on UN/CEFACT (MMT RDM)," Choriyev said.

He also presented TRACECA's strategy for 2026–2030, which is designed to shift the organization's role from coordinating participants' activities to the operational management of transport corridors.

"Its key objective is to ensure full predictability and transparency of multimodal transit for investors and shippers," he noted.

According to Choriyev, the strategy is built around three priorities: eliminating physical and digital bottlenecks at borders, deepening digitalization through the mutual recognition of electronic documents among the 14 participating countries, and enhancing reliability through the introduction of a TRACECA Corridor Performance Index to compare logistics routes.
