Zelenskyy: Russia strikes Turkish cargo ship in Black Sea, Azerbaijani nationals among crew

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Azerbaijani and Indian nationals were among the crew members of a Turkish cargo ship carrying corn that was struck by two Russian drones in international waters.

According to Report, Zelenskyy said in a post on X that ship's captain was killed in the attack. The fate of another crew member is still being determined. Eleven crew members were rescued, one of whom was injured.

The president noted that Ukraine had repeatedly proposed concrete steps to de-escalate tensions and ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.

Zelenskyy called for pressure to be put on Russia to restore global food security and stressed that all those interested in this goal should contribute to ensuring the safety of navigation.
