Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and Lt. Gen. Curtis Buzzard, commander of NATO's Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine, Report informs.
Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram that the sides discussed protecting Ukraine's skies by increasing supplies of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems under the PURL program, as well as the implementation of joint defense projects with the United States.
"We had a good conversation, primarily about how to protect Ukraine's skies by increasing supplies of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems under the PURL program. This is now a key priority, as massive Russian strikes are not stopping," he said.
The sides also discussed bilateral defense partnership between the United States and Ukraine, including the implementation of US President Donald Trump's decision, made in Ankara, to provide Ukraine with a license to produce Patriot systems.
Separate attention was paid to the Drone Deal agreement currently being worked on by the Ukrainian and American sides.
"This project has real potential, and we hope it can be finalized soon," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president also said the sides had already signed the first documents under the upcoming Drone Deal agreement. According to him, this opens the possibility of sending Ukrainian drones to the United States for testing.
Zelenskyy also said he had awarded Lt. Gen. Curtis Buzzard the Order of Merit, 3rd class.
