Xi Jinping visits India for first time in seven years

Chinese President Xi Jinping has traveled to India for the first time in seven years, Report informs via foreign media.

It was noted that the purpose of the visit is to attend the BRICS leaders' summit in New Delhi.

Chinese leader is expected to deliver a speech at the summit, hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and exchange views with other leaders of the bloc countries.

The visit comes against the backdrop of efforts to restore China–India relations, which became more complicated after the armed clash on the disputed Himalayan border in 2020. The incident resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian and 4 Chinese soldiers.

In recent years, Beijing and New Delhi have taken steps toward normalizing bilateral relations.
