The United States vetoed a United Nations resolution Friday backed by almost all other Security Council members and many other nations demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Report informs via The Times of Israel.
US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood criticized the council after the vote for its failure to condemn Hamas’s October 7 attacks in Israel.
Wood said the resolution was “divorced from reality” and “would have not moved the needle forward on the ground.”
Thirteen members of the council voted in favor of the motion, while the United Kingdom abstained.
