The United States has urged Ukraine and Russia to halt mutual strikes during the visits of US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.
According to The New York Times, cited by Report, Washington is calling on Kyiv to temporarily halt drone attacks on Moscow and energy facilities during Witkoff and Kushner's trip. Russia, meanwhile, is expected to refrain from striking targets in Kyiv while the US delegation is visiting.
At the same time, the newspaper noted that it remains unclear whether the US envoys plan to present Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy with new proposals for resolving the conflict. According to the NYT, their task may instead be to narrow differences over territorial issues.
