US State Department: Ghani no longer political figure in Afghanistan

The US assumes that fugitive Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is no longer a political figure in his country, First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said Aug. 19, Report informs.
During a briefing at the State Department, Sherman was asked to assess the video message that Ghani recorded to the Afghan people while in the UAE.
“He is no longer a figure in Afghanistan,” Sherman said.
