US president says he can reconcile Russia and Ukraine like Azerbaijan and Armenia

US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that he would be able to achieve reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine, as he had previously done regarding relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Report informs.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said he believes the agreement (between Kyiv and Moscow) will be reached as they have already managed to achieve agreements.

As an example, he cited the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which had lasted 32 years and which he managed to resolve.

Trump added that he had achieved the resolution of eight conflicts.

When asked whether he has a deadline by which he expects to achieve an agreement between Ukraine and Russia, Trump stated that he is not setting any time frames.

In addition, the US president said that he plans to visit Ukraine but would prefer the war to be over by then. "I'm not sure the Secret Service would be thrilled [about such a trip]. I think the people there are in trouble. It would be nice to get to Kyiv before the city sustains more damage. To be honest, it's such a beautiful city. Yes, I will go to Ukraine at the right time."

Trump emphasized that he plans to have a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin this evening.

The American leader also believes that the presidents of Russia and Ukraine will meet, but it is unlikely to take place in Moscow.
