US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has authorized roughly 2,000 National Guard personnel in Washington, D.C., to be armed.
Report informs via Fox News that the troops will have the right to use their weapons if necessary.
“Under the direction of the Secretary of Defense, members of the Joint Task Force in Washington, supporting the mission to reduce crime in our nation’s capital, will soon begin carrying out their duties with issued weapons, in line with their mission and training,” a US Department of Defense representative told Fox News.
