The US Department of State has approved a potential $24.3 billion sale of Lockheed Martin Corp. F‑35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia, Report informs, citing the department's website.
Washington plans to supply 48 fighter jets, 49 Pratt & Whitney engines, as well as communication equipment, spare parts, and other support components to Riyadh.
According to the State Department, the upcoming sale of this equipment and related support will not disrupt the military balance in the Middle East.
