Unknown assailants fire at mosque in France

On the eve of the end of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, unknown assailants fired at a mosque in Cherbourg in northern France, Report informs referring to France Bleu radio station.
On April 8 evening, police found bullet marks on the façade of the mosque, and shell casings of an unknown caliber were found nearby. Security measures have been stepped up around the mosque.
The prefecture of the Manche department expressed support for the city’s Muslim community, pointing to the "full readiness" of law enforcement officers on the eve of Ramadan.
In March, the French Interior Ministry reported that the number of crimes motivated by racism, xenophobia and religious hatred in France in 2023 increased by 32%.
