The novel coronavirus pandemic has caused the severest implications in social, economic, and political spheres of public life across the world. It has worsened existing problems with human rights, according to the report of the UN Human Rights Commissioner for 2020, published on Thursday.
Report informs that the pandemic has led to the surge in the poverty rate, violence, and exacerbated problems of inequality. It also led to the restriction of fundamental liberties, according to the document.
It also said that the pandemic has significantly slowed down progress in attaining the agenda in sustainable development for the period up to 2030.
