The United Nations is holding talks on oil supplies to Cuba for humanitarian purposes, Edem Wosornu, representative of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said in an online briefing, as quoted by Report.
According to Wosornu, a severe shortage of fuel is limiting the delivery of humanitarian assistance, while needs are rapidly increasing.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated on Wednesday that the island's energy crisis has worsened due to the tightening of the economic blockade by the Washington administration, which, he said, aims to "take the people hostage and turn them against their own government."
