UN chief urges to avoid escalation of conflict in Ukraine

In a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern about regular violations of the ceasefire in the east of the country, Guterres's spokesman Stephane Dujarrick said at a briefing.
Report informs citing TASS that, according to Dujarric, the Secretary-General, for his part, reiterated his concern about repeated violations of the ceasefire and the need to avoid any escalation. Dujarric added that Guterres also gave assurances of support for efforts aimed at full implementation of the Minsk agreements within the framework of the Normandy format.
The spokesman noted that the UN chief discussed the fight against the coronavirus pandemic with the Ukrainian leader.
