A total of 1,428 international and local staff of the UN are working in the earthquake zone in Türkiye and Syria, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told journalists, Report informs.
Dujarric said that the number of UN staff in the field has increased and the staff plays a more coordinating role:
"It is difficult to say that we are pleased with the aid to Syria and Türkiye because more funds are needed. The earthquake area remains a risky region. Support from countries contributing to humanitarian and search and rescue activities should be accelerated since human life is at risk. We call on all member states to show solidarity with Türkiye and Syria."
