Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braze in Kyiv to discuss air defense, energy resilience, sanctions against Russia and coordination at the UN, Report informs, citing Sybiha's post on X.
Sybiha said he was pleased to welcome Braze to Kyiv as a guest of honor at the annual meeting of Ukrainian ambassadors.
According to him, following her trip to Odesa, Braze's presence in Kyiv amid Russian ballistic missile strikes was a powerful demonstration of solidarity.
Sybiha said Moscow's ongoing attacks clearly showed its rejection of peace and required strong responses from the international community.
During the talks, the sides focused on the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense shield against Russian attacks. They also mapped out concrete steps to reinforce Ukraine's energy resilience ahead of the upcoming winter heating season.
The ministers also coordinated efforts to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and discussed cooperation within the UN, including in the context of Latvia's non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
