Ukraine strikes gas processing and helium plants in Orenburg

Ukraine's Defense Forces have announced strikes on gas processing and helium plants in Russia's Orenburg region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on Telegram, Report informs.

It was noted that the attack took place in the early hours of June 24, with targets located more than 1,200 km from the frontline. Fires broke out at the facilities, and the scale of damage is still being assessed.

The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, one of the world's largest gas-chemical complexes, was commissioned in 1974 with foreign specialists involved in its construction. The plant has a capacity of 45 billion cubic meters of gas per year, accounting for about 60% of all gas processed by Gazprom.

In addition, Ukraine reported hitting an FPV drone warehouse in Belgorod's Alekseyevsky district, as well as Russian drone command posts in Zaporizhzhia, Kursk, and Belgorod oblasts.

On June 23, Ukraine confirmed the destruction of two naval drones in the northwestern Black Sea. Ukrainian forces also stated that two buildings at Russia's Vladimir Space Communications Center were damaged, causing a fire at the site.

Ukraine has carried out a drone strike on a gas industry facility in Russia's Orenburg region.

According to Report, citing RBC-Ukraine, several fire outbreaks were recorded on the premises of the facility. Following the explosions in the industrial zone, satellite imagery also detected multiple hotspots.

Local residents reported that at least three drone strikes were carried out.

Amid the attack, Orenburg Airport temporarily suspended the arrival and departure of flights. Similar restrictions were imposed in Orsk and Yasny, where air traffic was also halted for security reasons.

According to the governor of the Orenburg region, several drones were shot down over an industrial facility in the regional capital. No casualties have been reported, and emergency services are working at the scene.

Ukraine has previously targeted gas industry facilities in the Orenburg region, which is located more than 1,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
