Ukraine announces its first demobilization since war began

Partial demobilization of military personnel will take place in Ukraine at the end of 2026, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said in an interview with the local TV channel TSN, Report informs.

He stated that the process will gradually cover service members who have been serving since 2022 or earlier.

"We will create a calculator. Every service member will be able to see which month they are eligible for discharge (from service - ed.)," Fedorov noted.

The defense minister also noted that even service members with a valid contract will be eligible for demobilization: "If you are eligible for discharge in November or December, the presidential decree will take precedence, regardless of whether you have signed a contract."

Earlier, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov, in an interview with Liga, stated that demobilization is impossible under current conditions.
