Operations at several major UK airports have been disrupted by a technical failure in the air traffic control system.
According to Report, citing NBC News, the problem affected departing flights at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports, as well as airports in Manchester, Edinburgh and other cities. Passengers were advised to check the status of their flights with their airlines.
Heathrow Airport said it was working with the UK's National Air Traffic Services (NATS) to resolve the issue.
NATS later said its engineers had implemented a fix and that the flight processing system had begun to recover. However, it warned that a full restoration of operations would take some time.
Ryanair said around 65,000 passengers were affected by the disruption and that 50 scheduled flights had been canceled.
