UAE defines categories of foreigners eligible for citizenship

The UAE authorities have adopted amendments to the law allowing specific categories of foreigners to obtain citizenship, Report informs, citing the Emirati agency WAM.
According to Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the amendments allow investors, talented specialists, scientists, doctors, engineers, and creative people to obtain UAE citizenship and passport.
The WAM agency reports that applications for citizenship will be considered by the government and local executive departments. Specific criteria are defined for each category.
The new UAE law does not imply renunciation of existing citizenship.
