Trump says he is not sure he wants deal with Iran

US President Donald Trump said he was not sure he wanted to reach an agreement with Iran, Report informs.

He made the remarks in response to journalists' questions at the NATO summit in Ankara.

Trump said he had previously considered Iran's leaders to be very rational people, but changed his view after their actions in recent weeks.

"I got to know them better. I thought the Iranians (the officials) were more rational, but their actions over the past week or two show that they are not serving the interests of the Iranian people," Trump said.

According to the US president, Tehran wants to reach an agreement but does not know how to do so.

"I am not sure I want to make a deal with them. We can play games, but I am not sure I want to make a deal. Let's just finish the job," he said.

Trump again stressed that the United States' main demand is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He added that he did not like Tehran's actions, including nighttime attacks on ships.

The US leader said he did not expect military operations with Iran to resume. According to him, if the conflict starts again, everything will happen very quickly, and the United States will respond to Iran's actions with larger-scale strikes. Trump stressed that Washington is speaking to Tehran in its own language and does not seek a long-term confrontation.
