Trump announces removal of tariffs on Irish whiskey

US President Donald Trump has announced that customs tariffs imposed on Irish whiskey will be lifted.

According to Report, he made the statement during a speech at a golf club in Ireland.

Trump explained that he had received requests to remove tariffs on Irish‑made whiskey and declared: "On behalf of the United States, I announce my intention to lift these tariffs."

In April 2025, the US administration announced the imposition of customs tariffs on products from 185 countries and territories. A 10% universal tariff came into effect on April 5, while individual tariffs were introduced on April 9, 2025.

On February 20, the US Supreme Court ruled that the administration"s use of emergency economic powers to impose import tariffs on other countries exceeded its authority. At the same time, the Court did not clarify whether previously collected tariffs should be refunded.
