Tent of missing climbers found in Kyrgyzstan mountains

Rescuers have found the tent of a group of missing climbers in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, but no one was inside, Report informs, citing Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

The search operation is continuing.

The missing climbers include two citizens of Belarus and one citizen of Lithuania.

"On August 8, rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out search operations and spent the night at an altitude of 5,000 meters. Today, five rescuers with special equipment, five employees of the Border Service and two volunteer guides, citizens of Switzerland, joined the search operation," Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The three climbers stopped making contact after ascending Kurumdy, also known as Korumdu Peak, which is 6,613.5 meters high. According to available information, contact with them was lost after they reached the summit via the North Ridge in the Pamir-Alay and Trans-Alay range.

On August 4, the climbers completed the ascent and contacted the operator, saying they were ready to begin descending to the base camp. However, the group did not arrive at the checkpoint at the scheduled time, after which contact with them was lost.
