The North Atlantic Alliance must ensure that the conflict in Ukraine does not extend beyond the country's borders, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference with the Latvian President Egils Levits, Report informs, citing TASS.
"NATO is responsible for preventing the conflict from escalating beyond Ukraine. In order to avoid miscalculations by Moscow, NATO has significantly strengthened its presence in the east. 130 aircraft are on high alert, more than 200 ships from the far north to the Mediterranean have been prepared, and thousands of additional troops have been deployed in the region. NATO is ready to defend every inch of the allied territory," Stoltenberg said.
