Slovak PM Robert Fico cancels planned Ukraine visit due to illness

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has canceled his planned visit to Ukraine due to illness, Tasr.sk says, citing Ukrainian sources.

Fico will be represented in Ukraine by Marek Eštok, State Secretary at Slovakia's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

A Slovak business delegation has also traveled to Ukraine.

Fico was scheduled to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's new Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other officials.

The Carpathian Initiative summit, which will continue until Sunday, brings together representatives of eight countries in the Carpathian region: Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The summit aims to deepen regional cooperation in several areas, including security, the economy and cross-border cooperation.
