NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has compared the alliance's member countries' joint efforts to a football team competing in the World Cup, emphasizing that success is achieved only through teamwork, Report informs via foreign media.
Rutte made the statement at the NATO Summit Defense Industry Forum in Ankara.
"Let me start with a little football analogy: No team wins because of one brilliant player. You need the goalkeeper, you need the defenders, the midfielders, the strikers. And yes, everyone notices the player who scores the winning goal. But behind every successful player and team out on the pitch, there are many others on the bench and behind the scenes. Everyone matters. No one wins alone," he added.
He emphasized that the North Atlantic Alliance operates on the same principle.
