Rome to host next round of Israel–Lebanon talks

The next round of negotiations between Israel and Lebanon will take place in Rome on August 4–6, Axios journalist Barak Ravid said in a post on X, citing a US State Department official, Report informs.

"Israel, Lebanon and the US are expected to hold talks next week in Rome on potentially expanding the process of Israeli military redeployment in Southern Lebanon and discuss the land border disputes between the countries, a State Department official said. The next round of US-led talks between Israel and Lebanon will take place in Rome on August 4–6," reads the post.

According to Barak, the State Department official said there is "significant momentum" in the Israeli-Lebanese track following the successful launch of the first pilot zone in southern Lebanon and Lebanese President Aoun's meeting with President Trump last week.

"In Rome, technical groups will focus on advancing the full implementation of the framework agreement. That includes expanding the pilot zone process, resolving all outstanding border issues, and working on a comprehensive peace and security agreement", the US State Department official said.

The official added that the trilateral Framework agreement is the only path to lasting peace between Israel and Lebanon: "Fully implementing it is in the clear interest of both countries, and the Trump Administration is committed to its success."
