The United States has used up a significant portion of its stockpile of long-range precision-guided missiles during the five-month conflict with Iran, Report informs via Reuters.
The weapons in question are primarily Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM), both ground-to-ground missile systems.
Sources told Reuters that the United States has used "virtually all" of its available missiles of these types.
The extent of the depletion of US ATACMS and PrSM inventories had not previously been disclosed.
Reuters noted that long-range missiles are a key component of the US military's arsenal, allowing forces to conduct precision strikes from a safe distance. US-supplied ATACMS missiles played a significant role in Russia's war against Ukraine by enabling Ukrainian forces to strike targets inside Russian territory. The PrSM is a newer, more advanced generation of missile designed to replace the shorter-range ATACMS.
