Putin, Trump discuss Ukraine and US envoys' visits

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a phone call to discuss the situation around Ukraine and the results of visits by US representatives Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Moscow and Kyiv.

According to Report, citing Russian media, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said the hour-long conversation was constructive and frank, although its contents were confidential.

"The leaders exchanged views on Kushner and Witkoff's visits to Moscow and Kyiv on September 5 and 6," Ushakov said.

He added that the Kremlin assessed the results of the US representatives' visits positively and that contacts in this format would continue.

One of the main topics of the conversation was the settlement of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Trump stressed the need to end the conflict as soon as possible, which could open the way for a full normalization of relations between Russia and the US.

According to Ushakov, the US president is interested in achieving a breakthrough during his presidential term. Putin, for his part, supported efforts to develop cooperation between Moscow and Washington and positively assessed Trump's efforts to find ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
