Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the situation in the Middle East and the ceasefire agreement between Tehran and Washington during a meeting in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Report informs, citing Interfax.
Putin said the Iran-US ceasefire agreement reached in June had proved unstable and fragile.
"We welcomed the conclusion of the Iranian-American ceasefire memorandum in June this year, but unfortunately, the truce has turned out to be unstable and too fragile," he said.
Pezeshkian, for his part, said Iran was ready to resume compliance with the memorandum with the United States provided that Washington also returned to fulfilling its commitments.
"If the United States returns to fulfilling the commitments set out in this memorandum, we will also return and comply with all these measures," the Iranian president said.
Pezeshkian also said the United States had no right to impose its demands on Iran and stressed the need to counter unilateral actions.
