Putin demands suspension of all weapons deliveries to Ukraine during ceasefire

Russian President Vladimir Putin has presented a key condition for a proposed 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine: a complete suspension of arms shipments to Ukraine, as part of the peace efforts championed by US President Donald Trump.

Report informs via Bloomberg that the two leaders are set to discuss the matter in a phone call scheduled for March 18.

During a meeting with Trump's envoy last week, Putin stated that halting arms supplies was a crucial prerequisite for any ceasefire to take effect, according to a senior European official and three sources in Moscow.

European allies have expressed concern over this demand, warning that it would allow Russia to rearm during the temporary ceasefire, while Ukraine would be left vulnerable without military support.

"The suspension of arms supplies, as Putin insists, will be temporary. Shipments will resume once a peace agreement is reached, where Ukraine will agree to limit its military capabilities," a Moscow source explained.

The Trump administration had previously announced a ceasefire plan after talks in Saudi Arabia and temporarily halted arms shipments and intelligence exchanges with Ukraine, aiming to push Kyiv toward diplomatic negotiations.
