Prime Minister of Japan invited to Ukraine

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received an invitation to visit Ukraine, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a briefing in Tokyo, Report informs.

The invitation was handed over by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, to the Ambassador of Japan on Wednesday.

"Japan is supporting the citizens of Ukraine... and is taking appropriate steps as G7 chair this year," Matsuno said.

Next week, Kishida will visit G7 member countries, including France, Italy, the UK, Canada and the United States. The tour will take place shortly before the May G7 summit in Hiroshima.

Earlier this week, the Nikkei newspaper reported that Japan intends to invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the summit.
