Poll: More than two-thirds of French citizens disapprove of Macron's performance

Only 16% of French citizens surveyed approve of Emmanuel Macron's performance as president.

According to Report, this is according to the results of an Ipsos-BVA poll commissioned by La Tribune Dimanche.

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction with his policies has risen to 81%, the lowest approval rating recorded in polls since Macron was elected in 2017.

"Public discontent is at its peak, and we are seeing all the problems associated with the dissolution of the National Assembly worsen: budgetary problems and declining purchasing power," said Brice Teinturier, deputy CEO of Ipsos-BVA.

According to him, there is a perception in society that everything in the country is functioning poorly. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu's performance is approved by 20% of respondents, while 70% disapprove of it.

According to Teinturier, this is because the prime minister is "bogged down in budgetary problems, creating the impression that he is not going to change anything." The poll was conducted on September 9–10 among 1,000 people aged over 18.
