Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar said his country is still awaiting Iran's official response on participating in the next round of talks with the United States in Islamabad, Report informs via Al Jazeera.
Tarar said Islamabad remains committed to diplomacy and dialogue but stressed that Iran's decision is critical, as a two-week ceasefire is set to expire soon.
The United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran on Feb. 28. The escalation drew Gulf countries into the crisis, while also disrupting traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, the United States and their allies agreed on a ceasefire on April 8, which is due to expire on April 22.
An initial round of talks held in Pakistan on April 11–12 failed to produce results, and a new round could take place in the coming days.
The situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains uncertain, with both sides intermittently announcing its reopening, although shipping in the region remains effectively halted.
