The opening of the border with Türkiye will allow Armenia to use Turkish ports in the Mediterranean Sea, Report informs, citing Armenpress, based on statements by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan to journalists.
"We are doing everything so that the borders [with Türkiye - ed.] are opened and diplomatic relations are established. We will do everything possible to establish full-fledged economic and political relations with neighboring countries," Khachaturyan said.
According to him, the necessary work at the border crossing points (on the border with Türkiye) has already been completed, and they are ready for operation.
Khachaturyan noted that the process of normalizing relations with Türkiye is also having a positive impact on business in Armenia.
According to the president, positive dynamics have been observed in Armenia's economic relations with Türkiye since the beginning of 2026. In particular, Armenian vehicles can now directly carry out cargo transportation to Türkiye.
"In addition, a special trade code has been established for us [on goods from Türkiye - ed.]. Previously, goods imported into Armenia [from Türkiye - ed.] arrived with Georgian codes. Now this happens directly. (...) The opening of the border with Türkiye will give Armenia the opportunity to use Turkish ports in the Mediterranean Sea," Khachaturyan said.
