Number of Ebola cases in DR Congo exceeds 7,000

The number of confirmed Ebola virus disease cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reached 7,022, according to foreign media, cited by Report.
The number of deaths since the outbreak of the rare Bundibugyo strain of the virus in mid-May has risen to 3,398. Currently, 837 people are in quarantine or undergoing treatment.
This is already the 17th Ebola outbreak in the DRC, with its epicenter in the northeastern province of Ituri. The virus has already spread to seven provinces of the DRC. According to AFP, since the start of the new school year, Ebola has been spreading rapidly among schoolchildren, increasing the burden on healthcare facilities.
