Norway to fund development, purchase of naval drones for Ukraine

Norway will allocate 1.2 billion kroner, or more than $120 million, for the development and purchase of naval drones for Ukraine, Report informs, citing the Norwegian government.

According to the statement, the funds allocated under the Nansen program, which provides for assistance to Ukraine until 2030, will be used to purchase unmanned vessels produced by Norwegian and Ukrainian industry.

"Norway's maritime industry is one of the best in the world. I am pleased that these capabilities can be used to support Ukraine, which uses naval drones for reconnaissance, attack operations and protection against Russian attacks," Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in the statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Store held a meeting today in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

In early June, Zelenskyy said Norwegian authorities had agreed to help Ukraine with the supply of air defense systems.
