Nepal flood death toll rises to 1,127

The death toll from a devastating flood in Nepal has risen to 1,127, according to local media cited by Report.

Search operations are currently underway for 4,858 people who remain missing.

The natural disaster occurred in northern Nepal on the morning of August 26. Preliminary reports indicate that the flooding was triggered by an avalanche near the border with China, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing.

A powerful torrent of water, mud and rock swept more than 70 kilometers along a river channel at high speed, destroying nearby settlements and inundating a large area.
