The US Senate has confirmed Antony Blinken as the new secretary of state, Report informs, referring to foreign media.
The final vote was 78-22.
Blinken, 58, was earlier approved by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. As the top US diplomat, he will face several national security challenges, including dealing with China, Russia, and Iran.
Blinken has vowed to restore US leadership to the global stage. One of the Biden administration's first acts was to start the process to rejoin the Paris climate accord.
