Miller: US concerned about possibility of conflict moving to southern Lebanon

The US is concerned about the possibility of the conflict moving from Gaza to north - to southern Lebanon, said US Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller, Report informs.

"So we continue to make very clear our messages to anyone in the region who is hostile to Israel that if they are considering attacks, they should reconsider them, and that’s why the President ordered the deployment of two carrier strike groups to the Eastern Mediterranean," he noted.

"We do not support the provision of humanitarian aid to terrorist organizations, and we make a very important distinction between the terrorist organization Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, any other terrorist organizations who are operating in that region, and the Palestinian people and other innocent civilians who themselves are often the victims of terrorism. So we have made clear that while we support Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism, we want to do everything we can to protect innocent civilians, innocent Palestinians civilians, and that’s why we support getting humanitarian assistance to them," Matthew Miller added.
