France forward Kylian Mbappé has become the all-time leading scorer in FIFA World Cup knockout matches.
According to Report, the French star reached the milestone after scoring in France's Round of 32 match against Sweden at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The goal was Mbappé's ninth in nine World Cup knockout appearances, moving him ahead of former Brazil forwards Leônidas, who scored eight goals in five matches, and Ronaldo, who netted eight goals in ten knockout games.
The 27-year-old has played for Real Madrid since 2024. During the 2024/25 season, he won the Spanish Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup with the Spanish club.
At international level, Mbappé won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France in Russia and finished as a runner-up at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
