Europe is witnessing "a world war of a new type" over vaccinations, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference by results of the first day of the EU's virtual summit.
Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, that it all happened, including due to Russia and China's attempts to exert pressure using vaccines. The French leader noted that Europe should be more independent in producing such drugs in such a situation.
Macron promised that Europe would pump up production of coronavirus vaccines in the coming months and become their biggest producer while suggesting to block the export of vaccines if the producer does not fulfill obligations on supplies to Europe.
