We are doing everything possible to provide assistance to the people affected by the series of powerful earthquakes in Türkiye. The Government of Lithuania, in solidarity with other countries, approved €500,000 aid package for Türkiye. The Lithuanian rescue team consisting of firefighters, cynologists and paramedics promptly joined the united efforts of the international community in Türkiye. Equipment and survival supplies promptly collected and delivered: 90 tents, 50 electric heaters, 1,000 bedding sets, 1,000 pillows and 7,700 blankets, as well as other necessary supplies. The total material value of Lithuania's support to Türkiye amounts to €528,000," Kazis Starkyavičius said.
At the same times, he noted that the total amount of officially announced Lithuanian aid to Ukraine, including support for war refugees who arrived in Lithuania, already exceeds €800 million.
The military support of Lithuanian state institutions amounts to over €365 million, as well as the support of private initiatives amounts to over €40 million, the MP said.
Additionally, the support of Lithuanian society is extremely strong. Public organizations "Blue Yellow", "Small but strong", "Strong together", "We care", "Save the children", "Caritas", "Order of Malta", other private initiatives, business charities, and non-governmental organizations provide food aid, necessary items and other possible ways of assistance.
"The new and currently running fundraising campaign RADAROM shows that there are no signs of fatigue in our society. €14 million has already been donated in a few weeks to purchase the multifunctional tactical radars for Ukrainian air defence.
Regarding the reconstruction of destroyed buildings in Ukraine, Lithuania is already starting to implement bilateral reconstruction projects in the Kyiv region (for example, kindergarten and school in Irpin and Borodyanka). In addition, Lithuania has started implementing the energy infrastructure modernization project in the city of Mykolaiv", he added.
