Lithuania scrambles NATO fighter after flock of birds mistaken for drones

Lithuania scrambled a NATO fighter jet and suspended operations at Vilnius Airport for 40 minutes after a flock of birds was mistaken for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Report informs via Reuters.

"On radar, birds and drones leave, at first glance, identical traces," Lithuania's National Crisis Management Center.

The threat alert was lifted after the fighter conducted a visual identification of the airspace.
