Lebanon, Israel agree to seek new UN Security Council resolution

Lebanese and Israeli delegations agreed during the seventh round of US-mediated talks in Rome to ask the UN Security Council to adopt a new resolution, Report informs via TASS.

Al Hadath TV said this, citing a source.

The resolution would serve as a legal basis for ensuring security in southern Lebanon after the end of the mandate of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL.

"An agreement was reached on appealing to the Security Council to adopt a new resolution as a basis for the period after the completion of the UNIFIL mission," the channel quoted the source as saying.

No other details of the agreements reached were provided.
