The leader of the parliamentary faction of the French National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, is not going to refuse to run for president in the 2027 election, according to Report.
"I am a presidential candidate, and if I am elected, I will gain the trust of the French people to play an important role in decision-making on New Caledonia," she told FMTV channel during her visit to New Caledonia, an overseas territory of France.
Her visit is taking place a year after unrest in New Caledonia over a French bill to expand the voter lists for local elections. The unrest then escalated into riots, resulting in the deaths of 13 people on the archipelago, including two police officers.
