Large natural copper-gold alloy deposits discovered in Eastern China

Geologists in China have discovered deposits of auricupride, a natural alloy of copper and gold, in Anhui Province in the country's east.

According to Report, citing CCTV, the find is expected to help establish a new major resource base in the region.

The deposits are located in the Chating mining area, part of Xuancheng City. The ore body has not yet been fully studied, but the main vein is estimated to be 1.2 km long and about 1.1 km wide. Experts suggest that the potential gold reserves may exceed 200 tons, while the copper content is valued at millions of tons. Significant potential remains for further geological exploration.

The China Gold Association reported that in 2024, the country extracted 381.3 tons of gold from domestic sources, marking a 1.09% increase compared to the previous year.
