Kaja Kallas: EU, Israel agree to expand humanitarian access to Gaza

Israel has made important decisions to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip following a constructive dialogue with the European Union, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas wrote on X, Report informs.

"Today, we reached an agreement with Israel to expand humanitarian access to Gaza. This deal means more crossings open, aid and food trucks entering Gaza, repair of vital infrastructure and protection of aid workers. We count on Israel to implement every measure agreed," she wrote.

According to an EU statement, the European Union and Israel have reached an agreement to ensure that large-scale humanitarian aid goes directly to the people of Gaza and does not end up in the hands of Hamas.

In addition, Israel has agreed to resume fuel supplies to aid agencies, ensure the safety of aid workers, and facilitate repairs to critical infrastructure, including restoring electricity to desalination plants.

The EU has expressed its readiness to coordinate these steps with UN agencies and humanitarian organizations on the ground and has reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all remaining hostages, and supported mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.
