Japanese PM urges G7 summit participants to oppose Russia's nuclear threats

Participants in the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit in Hiroshima must speak out against Russia's nuclear threats and the possibility of Moscow's use of such weapons, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida said on Monday during a debate in the country's parliament, Report informs via TASS.

"At the G7 summit in Hiroshima, we should speak out resolutely against attempts to change the status quo unilaterally by force, as well as against the threats and the possibility of the use of nuclear weapons by Russia," the head of government stressed. "I hope that we will demonstrate to the international community the readiness of the G7 to defend the world order based on the rule of law".

Tokyo is chairing the G7 this year and will host its summit in Hiroshima in May. The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and another one on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. These are the only places where nuclear weapons were used in combat.
